Founded in 1961, the industry association of the German waste management, water and raw materials industry - BDE for short - covers the entire value chain of the circular and resource economy. Uhura Digital Berlin has now relaunched the association's website.
The new website not only offers comprehensive information on association topics, which can now be presented in various content types, but also a closed member area - the extranet, appointment dates and seminars were technically and visually redesigned and implemented by Uhura. Users can also subscribe to various newsletters in order to receive more specific information relevant to them from the industry representative.
Uhura audited First, in an inventory of the previous website, all content and applications. In addition, targeted evaluation of visitor statistics with analytics and search intents using Sistrix (Google search analytics) identifies content gaps and optimizes the website's information architecture based on user stories.
As a result, the wide variety of different content could be made more searchable and sortable for users through categorization and tagging solutions. The extranet (login area) and seminar registrations were also simplified and improved in their click-through processes and interface designs.
But it was not only visitors and members who focused on website optimization; the usability of the CMS (Content Management System) and its modules also became more intuitive to use and therefore easier and faster in the publishing processes.
With the help of dynamic widgets and templates, the BDE can now limit itself to adding content and storing it with all data in the CMS. The website thus draws in the right places the latest or specific content that fits the context of the respective page topics. In doing so, Uhura Digital created an enormous reduction in workload for the BDE press department while at the same time dynamizing and optimizing content, search rankings and search snippets.
Features and functions for search engine optimization of all content have been integrated into the CMS and special strategies for better visibility and relevance of content, such as pillar pages for topics, have already been included in the project during the concept.
Uhura is already working for various associations, including Banking Association, the BDEW Or even the Textil+Fashion Industry Association and has already been used for this work with V-Award and was awarded the Best UX at the WebFX Forum.
